Autologous Cancer Vaccine Therapy (in partnership with Cell Medicine Co., Ltd.)

The cost of routine examinations at the hospital or clinic where surgery was performed is covered by insurance, but the cost of the autologous cancer vaccine is separate.

This treatment chemically fixes the patient's own tumor tissue removed during surgery, fully inactivates it, processes it with a special immunostimulant (adjuvant), and uses it as an autologous cancer vaccine. When administered, the autologous cancer vaccine activates immune cells in the body, which then actively kill cancer cells. The therapy aims to prevent cancer recurrence and metastasis, and to treat residual micro-cancer.

This therapy was developed by Cell Medicine Co., Ltd., and its clinical efficacy is supported by solid scientific evidence. Please refer to the paper published in the official journal of the American Association for Cancer Research (Clinical Cancer Research, 10: 1574?1579, 2004). An international patent has also been granted.

This therapy can be performed using residual tumor tissue collected for pathological diagnosis (formalin-fixed tumor tissue or paraffin-embedded tumor tissue).
At least 1.5 grams of tumor tissue (roughly the size of a thumb) is required. If less than 1.5 grams is available, treatment generally cannot be performed (in some cases it may still be possible ? please consult us).

Preparation of the autologous cancer vaccine takes approximately one week. Over a period of 1 to 1.5 months, a total of 5 administrations are given (1 DTH test before and after, plus 3 cancer vaccine administrations).
The interval between autologous cancer vaccine injections may vary depending on the patient's condition; in some cases it may be as short as one week.
* Side effects are limited to mild skin inflammation at the injection site or transient low-grade fever.

Effectiveness of Autologous Cancer Vaccine Therapy

(1) Liver Cancer
Surgery is performed with the hope of completely curing liver cancer. However, even though all visible liver cancer was removed at the time of surgery, recurrence occurred in approximately 80% of patients.
In contrast, 70% of patients who received the autologous cancer vaccine showed no recurrence ? a result of the vaccine's effectiveness.

(2) Brain Tumor
Because brain tumor surgery is highly complex, complete removal is difficult, and residual tumor cells can cause recurrence. By administering the autologous cancer vaccine, the body's immune capacity is increased and mounts an attack against these residual cells.
